the hungry gap

We left our swedes in the ground as they looked too small to pull out and they are now sprouting, so here we are with a little purple sprouting broccoli (not much) and some peppery swede sprouts. Nice surprise. Now is the time for sowing purple sprouting broccoli for next year, it does take up a bed for twelvemonths but I think it is quite a good thing especially without a tunnel. This year we are concentrating on rebuilding the house so as to keep a roof over our heads, we’ll work on a diy tunnel next year hopefully. Plenty of eggs, and delicious, and nettle coming up, thinking of soup and omelettes.

  1. I discovered your blog while searching for the tag, “farming”. I find your words and pictures very moving. I hope the little chicks are healthy.
